On the occassion of the anniversary of its first performance, Resident Conductor Michael Laus leads the MPO in Beethoven's iconic Symphony No.9. The composer's final symphony is ground-breaking for its innovation, by the inclusion of vocal soloists and chorus, a first in the history of the symphonic genre. Based on Friedrich Schiller's Ode to Joy, the choral text celebrates universal brotherhood and joy. Joining the orchestra are internationally acclaimed soloists alongside The New Choral Singers and Goldberg Ensemble. This profound work remains a cornerstone of the orchestral repertoire and a symbol of the transformative power of music.
