Beauty’s father, a merchant, stumbles upon the Beast’s enchanted castle while seeking shelter. He picks a rose for Beauty, angering the Beast, who demands the merchant’s life or that he send one of his daughters in his place. Beauty volunteers to save her father and goes to live in the Beast’s castle.
Despite the Beast’s fearsome appearance, Beauty comes to see his kindness and compassion. Over time, she grows fond of him but struggles with homesickness. The Beast allows her to visit her family, warning her to return soon or he will die of heartbreak. When she returns, she finds the Beast near death, realizes she loves him, and confesses her feelings. This breaks the curse, transforming the Beast back into a handsome prince, and they live happily ever after.
