On the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, MPO Resident Conductor and pianist Michael Laus will be performing three of the great composer’s most experimental and revolutionary works for piano solo.
The early Sonata Op.7, a rarely played work, was one of the first pieces to reveal the greatness and innovation of Beethoven’s musical language.
This will be followed by the Variations in C minor and the great Waldstein Sonata Op.53, two works which display different facets of Beethoven’s innovations with regard to form, texture, harmony and writing for the piano.
