This month, il-Ħaġar Museum is celebrating the 12th anniversary of its inauguration and, as has been the norm in past years, is presenting a weekend of events to mark this important milestone. These events will occur over the weekend of the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of February. which this year coincides with the exact date of the museum's inauguration. On Friday the 21st, a Memorial Lecture titled, ''Utopias between Past and Future'' will be held followed by the inauguration of a documentary exhibition celebrating Vella's evergreen and much-loved Mass in D Major op.20, composed exactly fifty years ago.On Saturday 22nd, two hands-on workshops will be held for children and students with Gozitan artist and art educator Victor Agius. Il-Ħaġar Museum is currently hosting a temporary exhibition to mark the first centenary of this Gozitan polymath's demise. In the evening, at 8:00 pm a concert will be presented, performing works by Joseph Vella and other composers. On Sunday the 23rd, a Holy Mass will be held at George's Basilica to give thanks for all that has been accomplished. Following the celebration, the festivities will continue with a four-course anniversary luncheon at Ta Frenċ Restaurant. Reservations for this event is required until Friday, 21st February.
