Reportedly, this issue actually prompted the local government to postponed Carnival for a while, pushing it down to May during the 1970s right up to 1988. This almost guaranteed great weather for the fun celebrations to be enjoyed to the full.

Many people remember this time saying it was also done because May was a peak season for tourism. They also said that there used to be what was known as 'The Battle of the Flowers' which included floats decorated with beautiful flowers.

Do you prefer Carnival celebrations to be held traditionally in February-March before Lent, or do you think it’s better to wait until May?

What would you choose?
