It’s dedicated to St Mary Magdalen.

If you’re visiting the Dingli Cliffs area, you’re bound to bump into the little chapel dedicated to St Mary Magdalen as you take in the glorious surroundings.

The chapel, way back when

“The earliest documented evidence of a church built in the vicinity of Dingli Cliffs dates back to the 15th century,” Department of Information shares on social media. “By the middle of the 16th century the name of the surrounding area became synonymous with the name of this church dedicated to St Mary Magdalen.”

According to historical reports made by Inquisitor Dusina in 1575, the chapel was barely standing and was almost in ruins. “The present structure dates back to the 17th century. Indeed, an inscription above the door records that the church had been restored during the time of Bishop Balaguer and opened again for public worship in 1646.”
