Brighter skies ahead! What’s in store for Malta’s first weekend weather?
Rain, rain, go away!

Lyndsey Grima

As we enter the first weekend of January, the weather is shaping up to bring a welcome reprieve from today’s gloom.

While today remains overcast and rain is likely to dampen the mood, according to Maltese Islands Weather, brighter skies and milder temperatures are just around the corner.

Saturday 4th January is set to kick off the weekend with mainly sunny conditions and temperatures climbing to a comfortable high of 17°C. This marks a slight but noticeable increase from the cooler days we've been experiencing lately.

The evening and early morning temperatures will hover around 9°C, so while the days are pleasantly warm, a jacket might still be needed if you're venturing out at night.

Wind conditions, currently at Force 4-5, may cause some blustery moments today and tomorrow. However, by Sunday 5th January, winds are expected to calm down significantly, dropping to Force 2-3. This should make outdoor plans even more enjoyable, whether you're heading out for a walk, cycling, or simply basking in the winter sun.

Sunday’s forecast continues the trend of sunshine and mild temperatures, maintaining the high of 17°C and lows of 11°C. With lighter winds and bright skies, it’s the perfect opportunity to embrace the outdoors and shake off the post-holiday blues.

In summary, after a gray start to the weekend, sunny skies and moderate temperatures will make Saturday and Sunday ideal for outdoor activities. The calming winds add to the allure of a pleasant weekend, ensuring a cheerful start to 2025.

Make the most of the sunshine ahead – winter is not over yet!
