Beyond Valletta & Nadur! Here are some other spots to celebrate Carnival in Malta & Gozo
Carnival fever is everywhere!

Francesca Vella

While Valletta’s grand parades and Nadur’s eerie, spontaneous street celebrations steal the spotlight during Carnival, there are plenty of other towns and villages across Malta and Gozo that put on a fantastic show.

If you’re looking for an alternative Carnival experience, here are a few places worth checking out:

Għaxaq

The spontaneous Ghaxaq Carnival is all about creativity and fun. Locals come together to dress up in wacky outfits, put on satirical performances, and enjoy old-school traditions in a relaxed, neighborhood atmosphere.

San Lawrenz (Gozo)

Another traditional one, this time on the sister island, takes place at San Lawrenz. If you feel like a few chuckles, head to the comedy show featuring both kids and adults, or just soak in the atmosphere created by the traditional folk music and the Carnival band.

Siġġiewi

For those looking for a more laid-back, family-and-pushchair-friendly Carnival experience, Siġġiewi offers lively yet approachable celebrations, complete with children’s parades and community-driven events.

San Ġwann

Local artists and carnival dancers join forces in creating a great event for the young and young at heart; all presented by the comedian Tonio 'Il-Majsi' Vella.

With 50 local councils organizing their own Carnival festivities, there’s no shortage of places to celebrate. Whether you’re into massive parades, satirical performances, or quirky street parties, Malta and Gozo have a Carnival experience for everyone - just don't forget your costume!

Where will you be celebrating this year?
