Artistic legacy! Next January sees Edward Pirotta’s sculptures reunited for the first time in 59 years at MUŻA in Valletta
Edward Pirotta, one of Malta's most celebrated modern sculptors, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in 1968 at just 29 years old, leaving behind a substantial legacy. Known for his mastery of the human form, Edward Pirotta's sculptures captured both the beauty and deep emotion of his subjects, making him a prominent figure in the Maltese art world.

For the first time in 59 years, a collection of Edward Pirotta's most significant works will be reunited in a special exhibition at MUŻA, Malta's National Community Art Museum in Valletta, starting on Saturday 11th January 2025. The exhibition offers art lovers and visitors a debut opportunity to experience the full breadth of the sculptor's talent.
As part of the exhibition, a newly published book dedicated to his works, authored by Prof. Joseph Paul Cassar, offers an insightful look into Edward Pirotta’s life and artistic contributions. The publication serves as a fitting tribute to the sculptor, shedding light on his enduring influence on the Maltese art scene.
This exhibition is not just a chance to witness Edward Pirotta’s works firsthand, but also a moment to reflect on his place in the history of modern art in Malta. The collection will be on display till Sunday 2nd March 2025, and will be open to the public between 10 AM and 6 PM from Monday to Sunday.
