Amazing! Façade of Floriana’s Church of the Holy Cross fully restored to former glory
The church originally started being built in 1588.
The church façade of Floriana’s Holy Cross church, more commonly referred to as the church of the Capuchin Friars, is officially fully restored and looking better than ever.

The restoration works on this beautiful 400-year-old church included the change of stone that had fallen or was about to fall, extensive cleaning of the stonework that was not deteriorating, as well as the removal of some old electricity systems.
It had gotten so bad, that the church was forced to close down for visitors as it was a danger but thankfully it’s now open for all to visit after its extensive restoration.
The church together with the convent started being built on the request of Grand Master Verdala between the years of 1588 and 1589.
Unfortunately, during the years of World War II it was completely destroyed during the air raids and was built again between 1953 and 1955.
