Alert! Malta Met Office issues orange warning for force 9 winds and possible hail expected later today
Stay safe out there!

Francesca Vella

If you plan on being out and about today, take care! The Malta Met Office has issued an orange weather warning, with even stronger winds expected to pick up later today, reaching gale force 9 across the islands. Showers are also on the cards, and they might come with hail and some pretty gusty conditions.

An orange warning means the weather could get a bit dangerous, so it’s important to stay cautious. The Met Office is advising everyone to avoid exposed areas - particularly near the sea - because of the heavy rain, possible hail, and strong winds, not to mention rough seas that could cause some damage.

If you're hoping for some respite soon, there's good news! Things should start calming down this evening, with winds dropping to Force 5-6 (strong to rather strong) on Saturday and easing even more on Sunday. The weekend’s looking partly cloudy, so we might catch a break from all this wild weather!

Is the current weather disrupting any of your travel plans?
