A look back at classes of the past! University of Malta celebrates a legacy of learning
The photos span over a century of graduations!

As the University of Malta prepares to celebrate this year’s graduating classes, it’s taking the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane, sharing graduation photos that stretch back over a century!

A rare photograph from the 1918-1921 ‘Corso di Fisica’ (Physics course) offers a glimpse into student life more than 100 years ago. It’s fascinating to imagine the aspirations of those early scholars and how far the university has come since those formative years – including in its gender diversity of the student cohort! While technology, fashion, and society have transformed over time, one thing has remained constant – the pursuit of knowledge.

Later down the history line, another photo shows the Class of 1965 in a procession through Valletta’s streets – a tradition still upheld for the postgraduate and medical students to this day!

As next week’s graduates prepare to step onto the stage and into their futures, these images serve as a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of education. Every class, every graduate, and every moment contribute to the ever-growing story of the University of Malta.

Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates!
