Three locations have been earmarked for a €3 million urban greening investment project, Environment Minister Aaron Farrugia announced in a press conference this morning. The initiative is being done in collaboration with entities such as the Kamra tal-Periti, ERA and Ambjent Malta.

The three locations include Triq il-Wied Hal Qormi, which is has been deemed as the perfect opportunity to introduce both green and blue infrastructure, Vjal Independenza in Mosta which is of a more commercial nature, and the housing estate in Hamrun. The central government will be taking the lead on the projects considering the large-scale nature of the works on the respective sites.

“We will be launchig a competition between local architects who will be competing for the best design of all three projects,” Minister Farrugia shared. “Once the proposal is chosen, that very bidder will implement the project,” saying that the concept is a ‘design and build’ one.
