World-famous luxury hotel brand Four Seasons eyes Malta expansion

Could Malta soon welcome its very own Four Seasons hotel?

The CEO and President of the world-renowned luxury hotel group has confirmed that the company is very interested in establishing a presence on the island, describing Malta as an attractive destination for future expansion.

Alejandro Reynal, President and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, made the comments during a conversation with Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg at the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Valletta.

Mr Reynal revealed that he didn’t only travel to Malta to attend the summit but to experience the country first-hand ahead of a potential expansion.

"When I think about the properties we have in the Mediterranean and how Malta can complement the Mediterranean offering through the history and authenticity of the location, it is a really interesting place for us to have a presence," he said.

“This is my first time in Malta and it's been truly impressive, not only because of the beauty of the place and people, but also meeting people like you.”

He added that the encouragement and support shown by Maltese government officials was a positive sign for the company's potential expansion.

"We will do the assessment and the work, but we're optimistic about the possibility of having a Four Seasons here in the future.”

Founded in Canada in 1961, Four Seasons has grown into one of the world's most recognisable luxury hospitality brands, operating 144 hotels and resorts around the world – from Bangkok and Bora Boa to Miami and the Maldives.

While it doesn’t currently operate a hotel in Malta, its new luxury cruise yacht has visited.
