Prettier than ever! Sliema's iconic cat statue debuts fresh new look

We teased last week that Sliema's iconic cat statue, located at Independence Garden, was in for a makeover and it's finally here!

The statue had its previous colourful layer removed and its rainbow hues were replaced by a lunar theme, with both the day and night skies illustrated.

The repainting was carried out on Saturday, with the artist, Matthew Pandolfino, pictured by passers-by hard at work on the new skin. A small film crew was also spotted documenting the progress as part of an upcoming documentary called Cat Island.

Looks a bit like Sailor Moon's trusty cat advisor Luna doesn't it?
