Congrats, Prof. Gauci! The European Commission gave Malta’s Superintendent of Public Health a shout out on Twitter, thanking her for joining the COVID-19 Global Response.

“This is a new virus and we need collaborated efforts and good investments to tackle the situation,” she said in a video message. “I fully support the Global Fund Initiative because we need more investment and more research in order to develop further diagnostic measures.

“The exit to this situation is by the development of a vaccine; a vaccine which can be distributed to all the populations and a vaccine which works. This is a world which we need to live up to. It’s a world where we need to invest more in health. It’s a world where we need to tackle this pandemic so that we will have a healthy world which is promoting a wealthy world."
