Sliema's iconic cat statue is getting a radical makeover
The project forms part of an upcoming documentary called Island of Cats

Independence Garden is one of Sliema's main landmarks with its quirky and colourful style. Home to many cats, one particularly large feline is currently being prepped for a radical makeover.

The project is being featured as part of an upcoming documentary by local production house Nexus Productions Group called Island of Cats which will include Matthew Pandolfino, the artist behind the original design. It is also believed that the same artist is taking care of the repainting of the statue.
