The promising player was named the FA Women's Championship Player of the Week in the 2021–22 season
This year has been a big one for local footballers, as another announcement has been made, this time by Sheffield United Women’s Team, that the Gozitan midfielder Maria Farrugia has just joined their ranks!
The 23-year-old already has quite a bit of experience under her belt, having played with Malta’s national team during the UEFA Women's Euro 2021 qualifying cycle.
She has also played for Sunderland, Durham and Lewes before her current move to Sheffield, and during her stint with Sunderland, she was named the FA Women's Championship Player of the Week for the first week of the 2021–22 season.
