A time gone by! 1960’s shot shows a completely different Xlendi in Gozo
The photo was taken from the collection of Anthony Hart.

A photograph shared by the National Archives of Malta shows a completely different Xlendi to the one many know of today.

Taken some time in 1960’s, the shot shows the Xlendi waterfront which still exists today, albeit much has changed since then.

Many of the shops or establishments shown no longer exist today and have been replaced with restaurants and higher rise apartment buildings.

The photo also shows how cars are easily passing through the road, an act which is no longer legal today.

Even people’s outfits and sense of style have changed drastically.

Do you remember Xlendi looking like this?
