Planning a little gateway to Malta this February and not sure what the weather will be like? Here’s everything you need to know about the Maltese climate in February.

Malta is definitely known for its warm and sunny temperatures, and although Malta is much warmer than many other European countries, it is still pretty cold so don’t pack any summer clothes!

The average temperature for February in Malta is around 13°C. This is still quite chilly but it’s the perfect temperature for when you want to walk around in the sun and enjoy all the beauty that Malta has to offer.

Swimming on the other hand can be a bit more difficult. Most locals would definitely not recommend it. The sea’s temperature is at a 16°C low, the coldest it ever gets during the year which means you’re definitely going to feel the cold.

But hey, if don’t mind the cold and you’re up for a swim, nobody is going to stop you - unless it's stormy weather, in which case: stay away from the sea at all costs!

You might also encounter a bit of rain as the average rainfall for February drops to 63mm across 12 rainy days, so make sure to have an umbrella with you just in case.

As for huge storms, which are typical during this time of year, none are being predicted for February 2026 as of yet. Given the recent turbulent weather, however, this may change, so make sure to check for updates.
