The team behind Misterfish, the well-known fishing shop based in Iklin, recently shared a photo that left followers stunned – a massive grouper, known locally as ‘ċerna’, that looks like it could rival a small child in size!
The catch, proudly shared on their social media channels, quickly racked up likes and comments from locals impressed by both the size and beauty of the fish. While they didn’t reveal the exact weight, commenters were quick to point out that this deep-sea dweller looked absolutely colossal.
Misterfish captioned the post: ‘Another fun day out at sea. This beauty was caught using Seaguar FXR fluoro, Centro swivels, Owner hooks and Jatsui’s renowned CYCLOPS 300g.’
Seasoned anglers will appreciate the specific gear used, especially when targeting large species like the elusive grouper. Native to the Mediterranean, ċerna are known for their strength, size, and delicious flavour, making them a prized catch for local fishermen.
