Malta’s community of animal lovers has just lost a key player – 45-year-old activist and volunteer Vincent Ciantar.

For the past three years, Vincent had been frequenting Animal Welfare’s premises in Ghammieri to assist other volunteers with whatever work needed to be done on-site.

Having said that, Vincent’s work for our four-legged friends in need goes way beyond that…

Testament to his is a heartfelt tribute message penned by outspoken animal activist Maxine Borg.

“Yesterday we lost a treasure, we lost an angel, we lost one of us. Vincent was a man that dedicated his life to the care of animals,” Maxine began.

“Vince, I can’t believe that you have left us. We are all speechless. You were a humble man of few words, but with a very big heart, especially when it came to animals. You were at your best whenever you visited the dogs at Animal Welfare, they’d await your arrival so keenly,” she continued.

Animal Rights Minister Anton Refalo and Animal Rights Parliamentary Secretary Alicia Bugeja Said also paid tribute to Vincent.

“I extend my condolences to Vincent’s family and friends at this difficult time. From the bottom of my heart, I would like thank him for all the work he did to safeguard animals,” the Minister wrote.

“Every morning I would see [Vincent] amongst the dogs at Ghammieri. His love for animals shone through his activism and voluntary work. Rest in peace, friend,” added the Parliamentary Secretary.

Rest in peace, Vincent!
