We're kind of obsessed with it.

Local band Beangrowers released a shiny new tune yesterday, and we’re loving the vibe! Before we get into it though, for those millennials who are a bit clueless as to who the heck are these guys, listen up.

Beangrowers is a three-piece band made up of Alison Galea, Ian Schranz and Mark Sansone, and has been around since the late nineties. They share a love for bands like Joy Division and the Cure among others, and instantly knew they’d be the right fit - and well, they've stood the test of time! The band draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists and film soundtracks to create a current vibe. Over the years, they’ve released four albums on foreign record labels and toured in lots of countries, with their music reaching most corners of the globe!

Speaking to the band, they tell me all about their new single, ‘Love, you can never give up.’ “The song is a message of hope to a loved one, reminding them that they are loved and despite the downfalls in life, there is always a way up.” It’s gives off some TLC that everyone needs every now and then.

And something that fans can certainly look forward to is the release of the rest of their album! “We’ll perform some gigs locally in 2019 for sure. We’d also like to play in Europe again, especially for our loyal fans and friends, both in Malta and abroad.”

Asked which person from the industry they’d love to meet, Alison says it would have to be Billie Holiday, as she was an inspiration for both her singing and for her strength from a difficult but interesting life. Ian says he would love to meet the adult film star Sacha Grey: “I have a lot to learn from her life experience,” he jokes.
