Warning signs of stormy seas should be put up at Cirkewwa, says driver whose car ended up in the sea
Experienced diver Raniero Borg also reiterated the message.
A man who lost his car to the stormy seas on Sunday is urging for warning signs to be put up at the quay in Cirkewwa to avoid this from happening again.
“There should be some sign about the danger of leaving your car here in stormy weather,” says driver Nicola in comments to Times of Malta, saying he’ll now have replace his care that was “working perfectly” before the incident. “It was only fair that I pay for its removal from the sea to avoid further damage to the environment.”
Experienced diver Raniero Borg also reiterated the same message, uploading footage of the two cars that were swallowed by the waves this weekend and were laying on the seabed. “Why aren't there any signs placed at South Quay with regards to safety for the cars in stormy weather? (for both Maltese and foreigners),” he notes?
“I would like to thank one of the owners, of the cars which were washed away by the storm, who was present to witness his car being removed from the sea. He was responsible enough to hire people to help him remove it from the seabed of South Quay. A foreigner, taking responsibility for his own actions, unlike the other car which was left there and has not been removed, yet!” he shares, calling on Transport Malta and the Local Council to place the warning signs.
