‘Tis the season! 30 localities in Malta and Gozo set to host Christmas festivities this year
The events aim to offer free entertainment for both locals and tourists alike.
This December, 30 localities in Malta and Gozo will come alive with festive cheer as local councils organise a variety of Christmas activities. The events are made possible through €400,000 in funding provided by the Directorate for Local Government under its annual cultural activities scheme.
The festive lineup includes Christmas villages, dazzling light displays, concerts, activities for children and the elderly, traditional food events, and the renowned Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem in Gozo.
The importance of these activities in preserving Maltese Christmas traditions and fostering a sense of community was highlighted in a conference. It was also emphasised that the events aim to offer free entertainment for both residents and tourists, while also supporting cultural growth and enhancing the quality of life across the islands.
The government bolstered financial support for local councils to ensure these events are of the highest standard. Everyone is encouraged to take part in the festive celebrations and experience the joy of the season.
Localities hosting the events include Attard, Mellieha, Mgarr, Gharghur, Lija, San Giljan, Birgu, Isla, Paola, Qormi, Gudja, Luqa, Marsa, Marsaskala, Marsaxlokk, St Lucia, Santa Venera, Kirkop, Zurrieq, and several others in Gozo such as Ghajnsielem, Gharb, Nadur, Qala, and Xewkija.
