A throwback photo posted by Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum takes us on a journey through time to the picturesque bay of Xlendi, capturing a moment steeped in tradition and history.

The image showcases the scenic sea inlet, a place known for the intriguing 'ġostra' tradition, where competitors dared to ascend a horizontal greasy pole to claim victory by capturing flags.

On the left, the imposing Xlendi tower majestically stands, bearing witness to centuries of coastal defence. Built-in 1650 during the era of the Order of St. John in Malta, this monumental tower served as a crucial part of the island's coastal guarding system.

This photograph offers a nostalgic glimpse into the past!
