Take that forecasters! It’s sunny skies in Malta as Mother Nature proves the ultimate troll
The storm that never came.
The Maltese are great at many things – like cooking, eating, and, well, feeding others – but one thing we never seem to get right is predicting the weather.
Throughout this week, various weather sites forecast doom and gloom, in the form of hail and thunder storms, buckets of rain and winds strong enough to pull up trees.
The brunt of it was meant to arrive between yesterday and today, and despite menacing skies all day yesterday, it all amounted to little more than half an hour of rainfall, and a few scattered thunderstorms overnight – oh Malta, we love you!
This didn’t stop the Maltese from battening down the hatches and fearing the worst (erm, guilty!) Plans were cancelled, warnings issued and parents called their children ‘crazy’ for daring to leave the house. What? Did you expect us to give up the opportunity to be overly dramatic? Now THAT’S funny!
Sites like Malta Weather Page actually issued an apology for getting us excited about the storm that never came, saying, “We regret to inform you that the mentioned strong thunderstorm (believe it or not) started to weaken just 15km away from the Western coasts… very low accumulations were measured when compared to what was expected.”
While the forecast remains a bit spotty over the weekend, it looks like we’re in for the sunny skies we all know and love today – though of course, that could change any minute, so get out there and enjoy it, while it lasts!
