Senglea, better known to locals as ‘L-Isla’ and one of the historic Three Cities of the Grand Harbour, will be lighting up the skies over this long weekend! The locality is one of four in Malta and Gozo that celebrate the feast of the Nativity of Our Lady on 8th September. The date also coincides with Victory Day, a national holiday commemorating pivotal triumphs in Malta’s history.

To mark the occasion, Senglea will host an evening of festa magic on the eve of the feast, Sunday 7th September. Expect a dazzling pyrotechnic display, complete with traditional Maltese fireworks, followed by a show of synchronised mechanical ground fireworks – and the next day’s a holiday, so you can enjoy the fireworks till late!

If you’re looking to celebrate the end of summer with some festa spirit, make your way to the Senglea waterfront from 10 PM onwards, look to the skies and wait for the magic to begin!

Will you be there?

5th September 2025
