Fasta Malta
€€ Mid-range
130, Triq Sir Frederick C. Ponsonby, Gżira, GZR 1076
A Sicilian chef leads the kitchen at Fasta, handmade ravioli and a truffle pasta the clear technical highlights alongside a carbonara made with guanciale, a bolognese, ricotta and spinach cannelloni and a pistachio tiramisu to finish. Portion sizes are kept deliberately controlled to limit waste, with larger servings available on request for bigger appetites. An upstairs dining room, styled as an intimate in-house experience, lets guests watch the chef cooking from their table. Italian wines and craft beers round out the drinks list, house wine and prosecco both a genuine strength. The owner offers personal recommendations to guests directly. Service can run rushed near closing time, and solo diners have occasionally felt overlooked. The restaurant is dog-friendly, and booking ahead is advisable.
