Sheesh…

Ahrax is a beautiful woodland spot in Mellieha, that has unfortunately been subject to dumping of bulky refuse time and time again. And just weeks after an extensive clean-up in the area, the woodlands have be littered once again.

“No words,” writes Daniel Mclean on Facebook, sharing the sorry sight seem at Ahrax.

The Mellieha Local Council is once again calling for rangers to be stationed at this beautiful area, to prevent such things from occurring time and time again. Local councillor Gabriel Micallef reiterating this need in a Facebook post, highlighting the situation.

“How can you dump this waste to such a beautiful place?” Micallef says in his post. “The matter has been pushed forward and discussed during several council sittings. Parliamentary questions have also been raised by MP Robert Cutajar. Proposals related to this matter were also presented by the Opposition during the process towards the Local Government Reform.”

“This is a coward and irresponsible act,” he says, condemning the action. “We need to instil more pride and cleanliness in our locality because cleanliness affects each and every one of us in different ways: in matters of individual health and the locality's aesthetics.” He once again urges people to use the bulky refuse services offered by the council. “Now, more than ever, we need to protect our environment & manage our waste responsibly.”

We can definitely do better than this!
