This morning, Minister for Public Works and Planning Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi inaugurated a new recreational area for children in Birgu together with Mayor John Boxall.

Azzopardi explained that the Planning Authority, with the help of Development Planning Funds, contributed almost €120,000 towards the playground renovation project.

The tasks taken on by the Department of Public Works included installing new playground equipment and benches; restoring the walls and gate, as well as repaving to redirect the flow of rainwater.

Along with Minister Azzopardi and the Mayor; the Chairperson of the Development Planning Fund Committee, Vincent Cassar; and the General Director of the Department of Public Works, Stephen Bonello, were also present at the site’s inauguration.
