Need a whole new look? Here are the stops you need to take at Bay Street - and stat!
Inject some verve into your wardrobe

Rebecca Anastasi

Wardrobes seem to have a magical property. Every time they’re opened, they reveal a mass of nothingness. No matter how many dresses, trousers or tops you can actually count inside, none seem to match the spirit of the day, week or month. Old clothes quickly lose their sheen, till their only function is taking up precious real estate inside your closet.

If you’re craving something new – even if it’s a public holiday, or the clock has already hit 8pm, and you’re just about to step out to dinner – Bay Street Shopping Complex, situated within the cusp of St George’s Bay, will surprise with high-end quality fashion, entertainment and eateries. Its rows of shiny stores – spread over multiple floors of this open-air retail centre – have been a mecca for fashionistas for years, and may just put the sparkle back into your threads! Here are some great spots to check out.

1. Shoes are a must!

You won’t be walking very far without some decent pumps. Renowned international franchise Aldo will not only give you some comfy slip-ons, but might actually give you some inspiration for when the sun goes down!

2. The perfect outfit

With summer just around the corner, it's time to get into those lighter tones! And with River Island having just opened at Bay Street, it’ll inject some verve into your style. More colour can be found at Cortefiel (Level 2) and Jennyfer (Level 0) – on the first floor of the mall – but if high-end is what you're after, why not head to Tommy Hilfiger, Bortex, or Liu Jo?

3. Jewellery OFC!

No outfit is complete without something shiny, but it also needs to scream quality. Crystal specialist Swarovski will make sure you sparkle, while E-Jewels boasts an array of stunning stones promising to make you the belle of any ball.

4. Need a pit-stop?

Shopping – no matter how satisfying – can leave you with a thirst for a little bit of a time out. Costa Coffee, on the first floor of the complex, can provide some reprieve, together with a jugful of the black stuff, as can Caffe Pascucci, which also gives you a little bit of Italy. And if you have a bunch of kids in tow, McDonalds might just be the place where they quieten down!

5. Bags of fun

The cherry on the cake (or, rather on your brand-new look) - a handbag can make or break an outfit. Charles and Keith, on level 1, boasts some of the biggest trends in fashion, whether you’re looking for a clutch, purse or even a Mary Poppin’s style tote bag!

6. A rainbow of colours!

You may be all shopped out, but perhaps, there may still be time for one last stop? Head to Frank’s, the perfumery, and pick out a new lippie, some bronzer or just a scented body cream to make you feel, and look, ready to step out with confidence.

Happy Shopping!
