Prof. Charmaine Gauci has confirmed that Malta's R Factor has surpassed 1 during a live interview with Times of Malta. She explained that it is currently changing every day and a slight increase in cases immediately effects Malta.

She shared it is important that we reduce this number, appealing for the public's cooperation. Prof. Gauci said that with the R Factor being over 1, it means that there currently is ongoing transmission.

She referenced mass events, saying that the number of people in contact with each other is much higher, since different people were attending multiple parties every weekend. "We need to keep it controlled," she appealed.
