Malta's Presidential Palaces lit red ahead of International Blood Donor's Day
President Dr George Vella initiated this as a token of gratitude and encouragement.

International Blood Donor's Day, celebrated on 14th June, is coming up and three presidential palaces - the Grandmaster's Palace in Valletta, San Anton Palace in Attard and Verdala Palace in Siggiewi - have been lit up red in support of the cause.

President Dr George Vella is behind this initiative, as a way to show his appreciation to blood donors as well as encouraging others  to come forward and donate blood.

It was noted that every year, around 21,000 people donate blood through the National Blood Transfusion Service.
