This spot has its roots way back in the 17th century.
It’s not every day that Malta’s rich architectural heritage gets appreciated overseas…
…but it just so happens that today’s the exception, as famous Asian luxury publication Prestige has just featured one of Mdina’s most iconic sites!
In an article titled ‘Eight royal palaces turned into jaw-dropping hotels’, Prestige’s Priyanka Lamba takes readers on a worldwide tour of formerly-royal spots that now serve as temporary lodging for luxury-lovers.
And alongside names like St. Petersburg’s Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace and India’s Umaid Bhawan Palace, you can find Mdina’s very own Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux!
Before turning into the opulent hotel that it is today, the Xara Palace – built way back in the 17th century – was home to the noble family of Moscati Parisio.
To this day, the Xara Palace remains an innate part of Mdina’s long and rich history, as its walls form part of the Silent City’s very own bastion walls.
Nowadays, this spot is home to the Michelin-starred de Mondion restaurant, which offers diners exquisite plates and a picturesque view of the island, as well as seventeen luxury rooms and suites.
