A Maltese nun living in Michigan, America, is confirmed to have contracted Covid-19 during a volunteering mission to deliver groceries to those in need.

A relative of Sister Carmel Chetcuti, Liliane, explained that the nun is currently sedated: "Everything is the same as is it was this morning. The nurse said that they are keeping her comfortable."

Lilliane shares her heartbreak at the situation: "Saddest part is no family members can be by her side," she revealed, adding that she forwarded her love and regards to her relative through healthcare workers who are currently tending to her.

Comments below Lilliane's post reveal great admiration for Sister Carmel, with many confirming she was a nice and gentle nun.

Lilliane called for the public to keep Sister Carmel in their prayers: "They're watching her closely as patients with covid can change quickly," she added.

Please spare a prayer for Sister Carmel.

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
