Keep your passion flaming with these tips on what to do when honeymooning in Malta
1. Get yourself some aphrodisiacs
Malta is awash with great restaurants, so why not take advantage and order some oysters, washed down with local white wine? They'll definitely get you in the mood, so make sure you’re not too far from your hotel!
2. Experience sunrise… or sunset
Preferably the former. There’s nothing more romantic than spending the night awake, basking in each other’s company – whatever you’re up to! Find a spot where you can hold each other and watch as the sun peeks over the horizon.
3. Walk along the coast
The sometimes rugged and arid landscape on the island makes for some stunning views, particularly in coastal regions. Put on your hiking boots and take a walk along some of Malta’s most iconic shores. It’s an adventure you’ll both remember for many years to come.
4. Go on a boat trip
Few things are more romantic than hitting the waves with your loved one on a summer’s day. Hire a boat just for the two of you, make sure its fully catered and includes a skipper and meals, then sit back and enjoy the view. Don’t forget the champagne.
5. Check out the caves
Malta is full of little coves and secret inlets which provide lots of fodder for the exploring couple. Ghar Lapsi is a popular spot, probably thanks to its accessible waters but for a view of some dramatic honeycombed cliffs, head to Gozo and check out Ninu’s Cave in Xaghra and the nearby Xerri’s Grotto.
6. Live the feast
A local festa is probably one of the last places you would go to for some intimate moments, but the vibrant crowds and glimpse of a life lived differently will be something you remember for many years to come.
7. Drink wine on the beach
Beautiful scenery. Check. Your loved one. Check. Soft sand and blue water. Double check! What’s not to love about laying your towel down on the beach and sipping some wine with your new spouse. Choose your beach, and the time you visit well, to avoid the throngs of tourists. Sunset in spring on a beach in the north of the island, such as Ghajn Tuffieha, really fits the bill.
