If you love watching food shows, then Gennaro Contaldo needs no introduction. Brace yourselves if you’re a fan, the man himself has been spotted roaming around Valletta earlier this afternoon!

For those who are more into eating than cooking, Gennaro is a household name in the UK and his native Italy. Renowned for tutoring celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, the multiple cooking books he has published and his collaboration with fellow Italian chef Antonio Carluccio for viral BBC2 TV show Two Greedy Italians, Gennaro is perhaps most remembered for his impassioned yelling of the phrase: “Why I cooking so good?”

This is not the first time Gennaro has been to Malta and it definitely won’t be his last. With two of his sisters married to Maltese men, his link to the island has only strengthened with time. He’s even referred to the Maltese islands as his second home, meaning they outrank the UK in terms of preference!

The seventy-year-old is now an active YouTuber and posts regular cooking videos to his channel, featuring his trademark exuberance and passion for cooking throughout. The above video, showing Gennaro's pea and mint pastry recipe, was inspired by Malta's own version, and was filmed in Gozo.

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
