Incredible! Have you ever seen a photo of Gozo’s fallen Azure Window dating to 1890?
Wow!

In 2017, the entire nation was shocked to learn that the beloved natural arch at Dwejra (Gozo), the Azure Window, fell into the sea as a result of some wack weather. We all miss the iconic spot so when throwback photos pop up, we can’t help but awe at the beauty it once was.

However, we’ve never seen a photo quite like this one! Giulio Zammit shared this stunning shot of the arch which dates back to around 1890. It was created by the collapse of a sea cave in around 1830, so this photo was taken about 60 years after it was formed.

The Azure went to live a long life, with visiting coming from all over the world to see the magnificent spot. It was even the backdrop for the Dothraki wedding in the famous TV series Game of Thrones’ season one.

Do you miss the beautiful window?
