Heads up! Strong winds cause Virtu Ferries schedule changes for Malta-Sicily route

Virtu Ferries has announced several amendments to its ferry schedule between Malta and Sicily due to rough sea conditions expected over the next few days. These changes affect both today, Tuesday 15th April, and tomorrow, Wednesday 16th April, with potential further disruptions on Thursday 17th April.

The company urges all passengers to stay updated via the Virtu Ferries website or Facebook page for the latest information, especially if they plan to travel on Thursday, as more schedule changes or cancellations may be required.

Here are the updates so far:

Tuesday 15th April

  • 06:30 – Departure from Malta (on schedule)
  • 18:00 – Departure from Malta (on schedule)
  • 19:00 – Departure from Pozzallo (on schedule)
  • 21:30 – Departure from Pozzallo (on schedule)
  • 22:30 – Extra departure from Malta

Wednesday 16th April

  • 01:30 – Extra departure from Pozzallo
  • 05:00 – Departure from Malta (on schedule)
  • 07:30 – Departure from Malta (on schedule)
  • 08:30 – Departure from Pozzallo (on schedule)
  • 18:00 – Departure from Malta cancelled
  • 19:00 – Departure from Pozzallo cancelled
  • 21:30 – Departure from Pozzallo cancelled

Early forecasts show rough seas may continue into Thursday. Virtu Ferries will assess conditions and confirm whether changes or cancellations are necessary. Updates will be issued tomorrow, Wednesday 16th April.
