Heads up! Environmental Health Directorate warns against this popular Maltese ice-cream
Yikes!

Jillian Mallia

The Smiles ice-cream brand is a very popular and beloved one on the Maltese Islands. Every Maltese nanna has a tub of this stuff in her freezer in summer at the ready to offer you some after your huge lunch. But unfortunately, the Environmental Health Directorate is warning against a lot of these ice-creams that may contain pieces of plastic. Yikes!

In a statement, the Directorate shared that “these products shouldn’t be consumed because of the possibility of presence of pieces of plastic,” after the company came forward with information. The notice said that the two-litre tubs of either Vanilla, Chocolate, Dessert Ripple, Nocciola, Strawberry, or Strawberry Ripple flavours aren’t to be consumed.

The lots of these ice-creams include those dated up until 12th January 2022. The tubs that have their best before date from 13th January 2022 onwards are safe to eat.

Check those tubs, folks!
