For Maxine, Christmas is...

“As cheesy as it sounds, Christmas is probably the most beautiful time of the year for me. It fills me with a lot of happiness and joy,” claims Maxine bashfully, as she continues, “it is the season where I get to meet up with all my friends and family to celebrate the year.” Maxine also treats this time of year as an opportunity to share: “it’s the season to give where possible and in any way possible.”

Her typical Christmas Eve is usually spent with friends but Christmas Day is all about the family for Maxine. “Every year we go for lunch which ends up taking up the whole day, and then when we finally get home in the evening my dad, my sister and I rush to the sofa to watch a Christmas movie together.”

Maxine's Christmas traditions

Apart from the family movie marathon, Maxine’s family make it a point to exchange Christmas presents at her aunt’s house, but the family entertainment does not stop there, “on Boxing Day, we all go back to my aunt’s and just spend a whole day lazing around together watching L-Istrina and playing games.”

What's her favourite part of the day?

Waking up on Christmas Day and knowing the day will be full of fun family time is Maxine’s favourite part of the whole season, with presents, of course, a close second - and memories of a very special one that is very close to her heart. “My most memorable Christmas gift has to be the jewellery set I received from my mum on her last Christmas - the last present she had given me before she passed away, and the one I wear almost everyday and will treasure forever.”

How about New Years Resolutions? Will she be making any?

The coming year will be a big one for Maxine. Her biggest aims are to complete her second year of university and launch her new album. Also on her list this year is to do a spot of charity work. “This year I want to do my best to help out my friends and family in any way possible - I love them so much and want to do all I can for them. Her loving heart is not limited to our borders though: “I have many New Year’s resolutions as every year, however one which I wish to actually achieve this year is to help young kids in a less fortunate country for a couple of days. I think it’s the perfect time for me and I’m really looking forward to this opportunity.”

Finally, Maxine's NYE celebrations will kick off with her loved ones away from the island, “it’s the holiday I look forward to most throughout the whole year. No matter the place, as long as I am with my loved ones starting the year at a totally unusual place with the feeling of going back to reality the next day acting as great motivation to have a great year - this is one of the best feelings.”
