For Malcolm, Christmas is...

Malcolm reminisces about his childhood Christmas, where his perception was “all about going to Christmas villages, eagerly waiting to unwrap the gifts under the tree and drooling in suspense to devour all the Christmas treats.” His Christmas now is all about slowing down, breaking away from the hectic and stressful world that has insanely absorbed us; allowing him to appreciate the little things in life. “Christmas now means family. It’s that yearly event where we all meet up to unwind together and in all honesty, it’s the best gift I could ask for.”

And this year is no different!

While the bustling life of a fashion stylist waits for no one, Malcolm makes sure to take a break from his studio on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Although the the morning of the 24th is spent catching up with usual work commitments, the night is spent out on the town with his closest friends while balancing it out with some well-deserved family time on Christmas Day. “Christmas Day is one of the few days during the year we all forget our daily routines and appreciate some time together.”

Malcolm's Christmas traditions

He reveals the traditions his family enjoys on the day: “Every year I spend Christmas Day with my family, where we all meet and enjoy lunch together. It’s something that I look forward to every year and would love to keep the tradition going.” Much like most Maltese Christmases, Malcolm highlights family and food as the best bits of the day, saying “nothing beats those two together, especially knowing that the sharing of gifts happens right after lunch!”

How will Malcolm be spending NYE?

While getting your gifts in order may be the highlight of early December, the later weeks of the month are solely devoted to New Year’s, but for Malcolm maybe not so much… “If there’s one thing that you should know about me, it’s that I find it very hard to decide on anything... unless it’s a flight ticket. I’m so aware of it that I just wait for my friends to plan the night and just go along with it. So yeah, the first hours of each year are pretty unplanned.”

How about New Years Resolutions? Will he be making any?

The rest of his year is pretty thought out. With the January faux-pas of unmet gym subscriptions acting as a slight hurdle to the beginning of the year, Malcolm believes that there’s no need to wait for New Year’s Day to start a new habit. “Although I  believe that New Year’s resolutions are a good way of ditching a bad habit, I do not necessarily wait till the beginning of the year to change or work on something.”

Yep, Malcolm is a believer in the now! He lives for the moment and wants to change what needs fixing. “If something is bothering you at the moment, just work on it straightaway as it can only stop you from being a better version of yourself.” 2019 brings just that, and Malcolm’s view of the year is as positive as can be.

Malcolm's 2019 goals include "being physically, mentally and emotionally healthy. This allows me to take charge of my life and feel good about the choices and achievements I manage to accomplish no matter how tiny or huge they might be. 2018 was quite a positive all-rounder so I am ready to face the new year with all that comes with it.”
