According to reports, Gozo’s law courts have closed abruptly today after a lawyer tested positive for COVID-19.

It has been reported that court workers have not been officially informed of the case, with lawyers noting that the news spread via word of mouth. Contact tracing has apparently not been conducted.

Two magistrates were hearing court cases before the building was shut at 10.30am. All scheduled cases have reportedly been deferred for the time being. The lawyer that tested positive is said to have entered court just yesterday. The courts are now being fumigated as per regulations in preparation for reopening.
