Dine like royalty in the heart of Valletta at the inimitable Palazzo Preca
A trip to Palazzo Preca will reward you with a multi-sensory feast.

Benjamin Abela

There’s no doubt that Valletta is one of the most underrated capital cities in Europe.

Offering anything from awe-inspiring holy sites and unmatched panoramas to centuries-old architectural wonders and plenty of shops, Valletta is a hub for all things culture and history.

Having said that, if you’re ever planning on visiting this wondrous city, it would only make sense to top your trip off with an equally extravagant meal…

…and where else would you do so than at the iconic Palazzo Preca Restaurant?

Hidden within the bustling walls of Strait Street, Palazzo Preca is just as grand as its name suggests – boasting high-vaulted stone ceilings, ornate chandeliers, traditional Maltese patterned tiled flooring, and muted jazz.

In short, a trip to Palazzo Preca will reward you with a multi-sensory feast.

Start your meal off by sampling the restaurant’s range of hot and cold starters, including fresh oysters, cured salmon gravlax, whitebait fishcake, as well as some traditional aljotta (fish soup).

If you’re big on carbs (who isn’t?) make sure to try one of Palazzo Preca’s mouth-watering pasta dishes, chock-full with the freshest fish, seafood, meats, and vegetables available.

Of course, it wouldn’t really be a feast without a top-notch fishy or meaty main – and you can rest assured that this restaurant delivers on that front.

Offering anything from crowd favourites like Lobster Thermidor and Rib-Eye Steak to house specials like Fillet á la Ramona and a Shellfish Platter, Palazzo Preca will leave you coming back for more.

Want to check this spot out?

Palazzo Preca Restaurant is open between 12pm and 10pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays, and between 12pm and 4:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

As of 17th September, Palazzo Preca will once again be opening for Sunday lunch.
