The international prestigious travel food guide, TasteAtlas has ranked one of Malta’s favourite delicacies among the best in the world.

Maltese delicious imqaret were ranked amongst the top 50 in the world.

Imqaret are date filled pastries that are deep fried in oil and will leave you wishing for more with each bite.

One can usually find them for sale in traditional Maltese kiosks all around the islands, especially during the summer feasts.

They’re also a really popular dessert option in many restaurants, often served with powdered sugar and a scoop of ice cream.

Both locals and tourists absolutely love them, so it comes as no surprise that they were ranked among the best deep-fried desserts across the world.

Some other desserts in the list included bombolini, beignets and all kinds of other doughnuts from different countries.
