Concerns mount about large-scale festivals planned for Malta this summer

As the fluid situation with the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create anxiety on the islands, with several new cases linked to mass events emerging in recent days, concerns over four music festivals planned to take place in Malta over the next few months are rife. 

Festivals Rhythm + Waves, Escape 2 the Island, the BPM Festival and Mi Casa are being promoted to revellers around the world who are keen to let loose after months of imposed lockdown in their countries, but questions about the wisdom of holding such large-scale events, and the validity of safety measures imposed, have been called into question.

Locals are questioning whether mass events should still be allowed to take place, and while the local Government continues to downplay fears, the situation is fluid, and it remains to be seen whether everything will go ahead as planned.
