Arriving in style! Unusual scene in Gozo as children pull Porsche carrying new Archpriest
Not something you see every day.

An Archpriest driven in a Porsche Boxster car, pulled along by children? Now there's something you don't see everyday!

This weekend in Gozo, the Zebbug parish welcomed a new Archpriest when Canon Ġwann Sultana officially took over the parishioners’ pastoral needs. And in an unusual display, he was driven to the instalment ceremony in a rather fancy Porsche, which was pulled by a number of children of the village - only in Malta (or should we say Gozo), right?

Here's a little background on Canon Ġwann Sultana: Born in Xaghra, Gozo, and ordained priest in June 1996, he started his pastoral work at the Santa Lucia parish in Rome and studied in the Salesian Pontifical University. He's been attending to the pastoral needs of the community at the Sant’ Anton Abbati church in Xaghra since 1998, and was also appointed director of Gozo’s diocese press. In 2000, he was appointed Canon of the Marija Bambina Collegiate at Xaghra, and currently lectures at the Minor Seminary in Gozo.

Canon Sultana was appointed Archpriest of Zebbug by Gozo’s Bishop, Mario Grech, after the resignation of Can. Reuben Micallef, and the locals (and their kids) seem to have welcomed him with open arms!
