Malta’s sister island of Gozo is arguably a gem in the Mediterranean. If you’re visiting Malta on holiday, definitely pop over to Gozo and you’ll be treated with one outstanding view after another.

With an island full of never-ending views, you can be certain that there a plenty of eateries where you can sit down, soak up the view while enjoying an amazing lunch, dinner or cocktail.

To make life easier, we have gathered a list of some of the many restaurants in Gozo where you can go, relax and enjoy the views.

1. The View, Zebbug

Set in the highest village in all of Gozo, this restaurant was appropriately named ‘The View’ because of the spectacular scenery it boasts. They have a commanding view of the open countryside that stretches as far as the horizon, where you can see the Giordan Lighthouse sitting on top of the Giordan hill. Additionally, this family run establishment has food that caters to everyone's likes and needs which is absolutely to die for.

2. Country Terrace, Ghajnsielem

Country Terrace offers stunning views of Mgarr Harbour, Fort Chambray and the three sister islands. The restaurant, originally a farmhouse, has a huge terrace providing panoramic views over the yachting marina and Malta/Comino channel. Owners Joseph and Katy ensure guests’ satisfaction with top-quality produce prepared with flair. The fish platter and handcrafted desserts are must-haves!

3. Xerri l-Bukkett, Qala

At Xerri l-Bukkett you can sit back and watch the ferries and boats come in and out of Mgarr Harbour as the picturesque island of Comino sits in the background. It is the perfect place for a nice lunch out in the sun. They also have a bar with a huge screen for sports if you wish to see you favourite team play.

4. Calypso rooftop, Marsalforn

If you’re in the mood for some top-notch pizza, head into Marsalforn’s Calypso Hotel and take the lift to the sixth floor where you’ll be welcomed to their rooftop restaurant and bar. You’ll get to see the seaside village of Marsalforn all underneath you. Apart from their oven baked pizza, they frequently organise karaoke, so get ready to take the mike, have a good laugh while entertaining those around you.

5. Otters, Marsalforn

Right by the water’s edge, this restaurant serves as an ideal seaside bistro. And as soon as you’re done with your lunch or dinner, you can even pop into the sea that is right underneath you for a relaxing swim with the Marsalforn port as your background. If you enjoy water polo, the area right next to the restaurant also has a pitch where the ‘Otters’ water polo team train.

6. Mulino, Qala

Situated in the traditional boutique hotel, Villa dei Venti in Qala, this restaurant is a modern casual dining restaurant that offers dishes which are all sourced from local farms. Located right on top of a hill and next to the hotel’s pool, at Mulino you’ll have a relaxing dining experience away from the hustle and bustle with views of never-ending fields together the channel between Malta and Gozo.

7. Churchill, Xlendi

Located right by the water, Churchill offers some delicious food where diners will get the perfect view of the Xlendi valley and cliffs. If it’s too cold or too hot or you just simply wish to sit inside, they also have a very cool interior seating area where you’ll enjoy yourself just as much. If you’re cat lover and sit outside, expect a cat or two to come visit, where they hope you’ll give them a bite or two from your plate.

8. Azure Window Restaurant, Dwejra

Back in the old days when the magnificent Azure window still had not collapsed, this restaurant used to offer views of the sadly collapsed Dwejra window, but it still nonetheless has much to offer. Dwejra is still so incredibly magical. From the Fungus rock to the Inland Sea and the open unobstructed natural countryside, dining at this restaurant will give you a chance to truly savour one of the most beautiful places in Gozo.

9. Fliegu, Nadur

Fliegu means channel in English, and thus as the name suggests, this Nadur restaurant offers unparalleled views of the channel between Malta, Gozo and Comino. Diners are treated to a menu of local and Mediterranean cuisine but their pizza is a must have. Cooked in their wood burning Italian oven, it is simply divine. Make sure to book ahead so you can reserve that table outside and appreciate the magnificent landscape.

10. Il-Kantra Ta’ Cenc, Sannat

Completely secluded from the rest of the world, the il-Kantra restaurant at Ta’ Cenc has some impressive views of the crystal-clear waters at Mgarr x-Xini. This restaurant closes down during the winter months but it’s the perfect option for a serene dinner or lunch during the summer months. They are heavily influenced by Italian cuisine and largely tend to focus on fish-based dishes but have plenty of other options as well.
