Alert! ‘Grigal’ winds cause Gozo Channel delays and suspension of Gozo Highspeed and Valletta ferry services
Stay safe if you're out at sea this week!

As anyone along the eastern coast can see, the notorious ‘grigal’ (northeast) winds are making their presence felt this week, bringing rough seas and disrupting sea travel across the islands.

Gozo Channel has announced that, due to the challenging weather, operations are being diverted to Cirkewwa South Quay, leading to delays as trips take longer than usual. Anyone crossing to Gozo from Cirkewwa or vice versa should expect delays.

Meanwhile, Gozo Highspeed, which operates on a more exposed route with smaller vessels, has canceled all trips for today due to safety concerns caused by the rough seas.

The Valletta ferries, connecting the capital to Sliema and the Three Cities, have also suspended operations, advising passengers to check their social media channels for updates on tomorrow’s status.
